Science and facts alone won’t win the day. We humans are emotional animals. We feel as much as we think. And how we feel shapes our views, and can often carry the day. This is why we cannot hope to mount an effective climate movement without a coordinated, movement-wide marketing strategy.
A strong social mandate for climate leadership rests first on sound strategic solutions that reflect common values, address social priorities, and that make sense. But the right solutions won’t come to fruition without social marketing, especially when our opposition is prepared to spend millions on advertising and lobbying campaigns to ensure their status quo continues unabated.
We may not have the same amount of cash, but we have passion and creativity on our side. We may not defeat industry spin completely, but we can certainly render it irrelevant.
Calling all creative minds: Help pitch the future.
This is a call to professionals and volunteers alike, for everything from hand-painted signs. t-shirts, and posters, to targeted campaigns and Creative Commons artwork for movement-based marketing campaigns.
Here’s the challenge: find ways to connect with people, promote common values, build support for a clean, resilent and better future, and promote positive climate solutions.
You are the bridge between strategic planning and on-the-ground action.
We know everyone will see the need for climate action eventually. Your job is to help them get there sooner rather than later, and by choice, rather than crisis.

Creatives for Climate: a global creative non-profit network working together to share knowledge, ideas and opportunities for action to build a just and regenerative world.
Global Strategic Communications Council: an international, collaborative network of communications professionals in the fields of climate, energy and nature.
Potential Energy Coalition: a non-profit organization that harnesses the best marketing tools and most experienced marketers to motivate urgent, collective action on climate change.

We don’t have time to waste. If we are to stay on track for a net-zero target and to build climate resilience, we need an immediate campaign to secure a 100% commitment to climate leadership from governments and companies around the world.
